Ennis & Ennis, P.A. Announces Nationwide Free Legal Consultations For Users of Paxil
Date:12/16/2009

ry letter (http://www.fda.gov/NewsEvents/Newsroom/PressAnnouncements/2005/ucm108527.htm) warning that Paxil showed an increased risk of birth defects, in particular heart defects, in newborns where their mothers took Paxil during the first trimester of pregnancy. Some of these defects include Septal defects-including Atrial and Ventricular. On top of the risk of Septal defects is the risk of persistent hypertension . A study published in the New England Journal of Medicine (http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/full/354/6/579) concluded that the rate of PPHN in babies whose mother used an SSRI, like Paxil was six fold over those babies whose mothers did not take an antidepressant.

Attorney David Ennis states, "We have been investigating Paxil cases nationwide since 2006. We are fearful many mothers do not realize they have given birth to children who have life threatening birth defects and it is related to their use of Paxil during pregnancy. Many states statute of limitations have not run yet on these claims due to the fact in many states the statute does not start until the minor reaches 18 years of age".

On October 13, 2009 a Philadelphia jury (Kilker vs. GlaxoSmithKline Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas case no. 001813) found the drugmaker should pay $2.5 million to a family of a 3 year old boy born with a heart defect after his mother took Paxil while pregnant.

If you or a loved one has been injured as a result of Paxil side effects such as birth defects, suicide or addiction you may be entitled to compensation. Contact the Paxil Birth Defects
