Entrust IdentityGuard OTP tokens secure access to corporate resources for

remote workforce

DALLAS, March 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Germany-based Universa, the country's oldest private health insurance organization, sought a trusted method to enable secure enterprise access and communication via a multifactor authentication solution. In the end, Universa selected Entrust, Inc. (Nasdaq: ENTU) and the Entrust IdentityGuard versatile authentication platform to foster efficiency and productivity between internal assets, workstations, applications and their remote workforce.

"Universa required the ability to secure resources and access with a strong, respected authentication platform," said Universa IT manager Christian Knauer. "The primary goal was to enable secure access without sacrificing security and the integrity of our sensitive information and intellectual property. This implementation allowed us to address those goals with a simple-to-use, easy-to manage solution."

Facilitated by trusted partner CyProtect, Universa selected Entrust IdentityGuard for multifactor authentication via one-time-passcode (OTP) hardware tokens, as well as software for secure remote access to enterprise resources and Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA). As part of the deployment, Universa leverages more than 900 Entrust IdentityGuard tokens for strong two-factor authentication.

"This implementation of strong authentication enables Universa to not only equip their mobile workforce with the tools and technology to efficiently do business, but does so in a way that is cost-effective and easy to understand," said Entrust Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Bill Conner. "One of the most trusted private health insurance organizations in Germany, Universa should be commended for implementing forward-thinking security solutions that can enable operational efficiency, mitigate risk and help in addressing compliance with industry regulations."

With more than 9.2 million licenses purchased, Entrust IdentityGuard is an open versatile authentication platform that enables organizations to layer security -- according to access requirements or the risk of a given transaction -- across diverse users and applications. The platform's authentication options include username and password, IP-geolocation, machine/device, questions and answers, out-of-band one-time passcode (delivered via voice, SMS or e-mail), grid cards and a range of one-time-password tokens.

A key component of a layered security approach, the Entrust IdentityGuard versatile authentication platform not only provides strong authentication, but can also help in minimizing operational challenges such as burdens to help desks and infrastructure maintenance. It includes a Web-based administration capability for user and policy management, enabling organizations to easily distribute administrative tasks to specific individuals, all based on role.
