NEW YORK, March 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield has been fully cooperating with the attorney general's office since they first brought this issue to our attention.
We were also surprised that the Attorney General filed subpoenas because we have been diligent in our efforts to determine whether the information provided by Ingenix was accurate, and we were prepared to share data with the Attorney General's office in accordance with previously agreed to timeframes.
We have been in daily communications with the Attorney General's office and at this time, we have not found any evidence that our use of the Ingenix data was defective.
Separate from the requests made by the Attorney General's office, we have taken our own steps to assess whether any wrong doing has occurred including hiring an independent outside expert to review the submission of Empire's data to Ingenix and our application of the data provided to us.
Additionally, to assist with our review and to meet the Attorney General's expedited timeline, we have requested that the attorney general share with us any specific information relevant to his inquiry. None has been received to date.
We will continue to work and cooperate with the Attorney General's office on this matter.
