Elsevier launches Carpentier's reconstructive valve surgery book

Philadelphia, 26 April 2010 - Elsevier, the world-leading publisher of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, proudly announces the release of a brand-new single volume comprehensive book on reconstructive techniques for degenerative mitral valve disease by the internationally renowned cardiac surgeon and educator, Dr. Alain Carpentier. The book will launch at the 90th Annual Meeting of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, May 1 - 5, 2010.

"This book describes a comprehensive system of valve analysis and reconstructive techniques validated in more than 10,000 patients in my institution," says Dr. Alain Carpentier, MD, PhD. "It provides cardiologists and anesthesiologists with a comprehensive description of the valve dysfunctions and the basic principles employed to correct them. For surgeons, this book provides guidelines and technical details that should enable them to obtain excellent results."

This reference provides step-by-step instructions on how to apply the techniques and procedures of Dr. Alain Carpentier - pioneer of mitral valve reconstruction - to your practice. More than 200 detailed anatomic drawings depict reconstruction procedures clearly, in a consistent format, chapter by chapter. A discussion section of questions and answers helps you grasp the nuances of each procedure.
