"When 8000 AAPM&R members receive PM&R as their official journal in January, it will represent the achievement of a long-awaited goal. The Academy will finally have a vehicle to communicate high-quality scientific content on a monthly basis that specifically focuses on the needs of physiatrists in all practice settings. This journal will be the cornerstone of our specialty and our organization." adds Academy President David X. Cifu, MD.

The various sections of PM&R highlight original research including clinical trials and outcomes studies, clinically relevant translational science, comprehensive and focused review articles, case presentations, point/counterpoint discussions and commentary, ethical legal topics, practice management updates, topical study guides, editorial and opinion pieces, clinical pearls, emerging issues and letters to the editor. Continuing Medical Education opportunities for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit are also offered.

The contributing authors and readership of PM&R embody the diversity of groups for whom this journal was developed. These include clinicians and clinical researchers in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation, in other medical specialties (such as neurology, rheumatology, geriatrics and spinal surgery) and practitioners in related disciplines (such as physical and occupational therapy, speech and language pathology and clinical psychology). PM&R will serve as a vehicle to enhance the dissemination of medical knowledge that will benefit people with acute and chronic impairments and disabilities.
