Elizabeth Edwards to be Opening Speaker at National Hospice Conference in Dallas

Edwards will open NHPCO's 9th Clinical Team Conference on October 23, 2008

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Elizabeth Edwards is deeply committed to improving America's future. A strong advocate for children and an accomplished attorney, she has been a vocal advocate and tireless worker on behalf of important social causes such as increasing quality healthcare in America. Mrs. Edwards will be the opening speaker at the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization's 9th Clinical Team Conference, "New Frontiers: Expanding Quality End-of-Life Care," to be held in Dallas on October 23-25, 2008.

"Throughout my life, both personally and professionally, I have had the opportunity to see how people have been affected by illness and loss and the role the healthcare system may have played as they dealt with change in their lives. At NHPCO's 9th Clinical Team Conference, Mrs. Edwards will speak about her experiences and how she approaches change, loss and hope. This will include her experience with the healthcare system as she faced cancer and how she identifies "quality" in the healthcare arena.

Elizabeth Edwards garnered national attention when her husband was launched into the spotlight in 2004 as the Democratic Vice Presidential candidate. But it was her down-to-earth personality that charmed America.
