Eli Manning to Lead March for Babies(R) in Manhattan

Super Bowl MVP is a Champion for Babies

NEW YORK, Feb. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The March of Dimes New York Division announced today that Super Bowl MVP, Eli Manning, will return for a second year, to lead March for Babies(R) in Manhattan on Sunday, April 26. Manning will be joined by CBS 2 News Co-Anchor, Maurice DuBois, WCBS-TV/CBS 2 Sports Anchor and Reporter, Sam Ryan, who will co-host the morning program.

"I'm very excited to be working with March of Dimes again this year," said Manning. "Everyone can be a champion for babies by joining me and signing up for March for Babies(R)." Manning is set to walk with thousands of New Yorkers on Sunday, April 26.

In an effort to bring more walkers to the event, March for Babies(R) organizers revamped the Manhattan route; shortening it from 5.5 to 3 miles. The walk will start at Lincoln Center in Manhattan and end at Madison Square Park on 23 St. Finish line festivities are planned and will include music and refreshments.

March for Babies(R) is the March of Dimes premier fundraising event that benefits all babies -- those born healthy as well as those who need help to survive and thrive. Now in its 39th year, the March of Dimes walk event was the first in the country, and last year raised nearly $110 million dollars nationally to support programs of research advocacy, community programs and education. The fundraising goal for New York City this year is $3 million dollars.

Premature birth touches half a million babies and their families every year in the United States, including over 30,000 in New York State. Babies born too soon are more likely to die or have lifelong disabilities. Babies born healthy need champions too, to assure they have access to newborn screening and preventive health care. The March of Dimes is there for all babies.
