Elekta Family of Companies to Highlight Cancer Treatment Solutions at 2008 AAPM Annual Meeting

HOUSTON, July 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The Elekta Family of Companies will showcase their unique line of cancer treatment solutions at the 2008 American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) annual meeting, demonstrating how the joint forces of Elekta, IMPAC and CMS are delivering cutting-edge radiation therapy planning and delivery solutions that streamline the treatment process to create a better experience for patients, as well as enhance clinician efficiency.

The integration of CMS also will help accelerate Elekta's vision of an EMR-focused radiotherapy software solution that will encompass the products and services of all Elekta companies. At the same time, CMS will continue to develop, sell and support products for all other equipment providers.

Innovation on Display in Three Booths at AAPM

In addition, Elekta (booth 424), IMPAC (booth 124) and CMS (booth 224) also will exhibit a wide range of treatment solutions, including:

-- Elekta VMAT, a new intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) treatment technique that that improves the sparing of critical structures and healthy tissue in dramatically shorter treatment times -- without comprising target coverage and patient safety. (Elekta VMAT received FDA 510k clearance in June 2008.)

-- Elekta Synergy(R), the market-leading multi-functional Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) system that provides automated workflow tools and 3D volumetric imaging at the time of treatment.
