Mountain View, Calif. (PRWEB) September 10, 2008 -- http://www.itelagen.com/healthcare [ITelagen]], the innovative provider of flat-rate IT services, today announced that it was selected to provide healthcare IT and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) support services for independent physicians affiliated with El Camino Hospital as they implement EMR systems and solutions designed for smaller medical practices. ITelagen, which was selected for its expertise in EMR implementations, is providing professional help desk services and support for the project and will support the approximately 110 physicians that are expected to sign up for the program.

El Camino Hospital spearheaded the program in an effort to support its independent physicians that typically cannot afford the costs associated with EMR systems implementation. In California, statistics show that, on average, larger medical practices implement EMRs while smaller, often independent offices, are frequently slow to adopt electronic record keeping. EMR systems are proven to improve efficiency, save money and reduce errors, but come at a high cost, particularly with respect to post-implementation service and support.

ITelagen redefines healthcare IT support for medical practices by using the latest technologies to manage EMR applications and proactively support all aspects of their computers, network and staff. By combining IT support with certified EMR expertise, ITelagen is the single point of contact for IT and EMR infrastructures and provides unlimited help desk support to physicians and staff for a flat monthly fee. The advantage for all medical practices is the ability to focus solely on medical issues without any IT distractions.
Physicians affiliated with El Camino Hospital formed a non-profit, mutual benefit organization, called Independent Physicians of El Camino Hospital (IPECH). IPECH will oversee the multimillion-dollar technology project through a service agreement with the hospital and manage the maximum subsidy allowable by Stark law definition.

"ITelagen is the clear leader in supporting medical electronic record-keeping implementations and the company's participation with our physicians is critical to the success of this program," said Kent Madsen, Executive Director, IPECH. "El Camino's independent physicians stand only to benefit, because the hospital is able to cover many of the costs associated with implementing EMRs at their offices and IPECH will retain IT support services from ITelagen to keep the EMR application running smoothly," Madsen said.

ITelagen's services are powered by its industry-leading ITAgent™ and ITVision™ desktop management platform and its client-based agent architecture, delivering service to customers at a fraction of the time and cost it takes traditional IT consultants. The company's desktop management platform operates in a fully redundant SAS-70 Type II compliant data center, maintaining system and network security at all times.

"ITelagen is pleased to lend its expertise in EMR systems support and IT services to this project at El Camino Hospital," said John O'Keefe, CEO, ITelagen. "Any time we can work with physicians to allow them to do what they do best - practice medicine, while we do what we do best -manage IT, it's a success story for everyone involved," O'Keefe said.
