Leading Developer of Practice Information Management Software Introduces

Comprehensive Patient and Information Tracking System with Automatic

Back-Up

DALLAS, March 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Eklin Medical Systems, a leading developer of digital radiography (DR), PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System) and Practice Management software for veterinary care (VIA(R)), is showcasing VIA's new Hospital Functionality and VIA Safe(TM) at the annual American Animal Hospital Association conference being held March 28 - 30, 2008. The new functionality, provides a comprehensive patient and information tracking system with automatic remote back-up of patient data, provides numerous benefits to the veterinary care practice.

"The VIA hospitalization functionality is the first comprehensive practice management software system of its kind in the industry and provides numerous workflow and economic benefits," said Christine Stafford, general manager of Eklin's Information Systems Division (EISD) located in Dallas. "This new functionality provides a view of the hospital census at a glance while displaying the location of each patient within the hospital. Treatment and procedure charges are automatically entered on invoices when completed which translates to no more lost billings."

According to Stafford, other benefits include an on-line electronic "whiteboard" and individual patient treatment sheet which allows a permanent record of all whiteboards, along with treatment sheets located throughout the practice. This provides advantages such as tracking each patient's treatment progress in real time and easy viewing of treatment tasks. Tasks can be scheduled quickly over a specified time period and treatment tasks assigned by staff member or function, resulting in the ability to capture and account for productivity while providing an accurate running total of invoices. All data is automatically backed up by VIA Safe.

"We knew it was critical to develop a system that would automatically create an off-site, daily back-up," said Steve Strittmatter, vice president of software, EISD. "VIA Safe is a fully automated service which runs unattended, providing on-line back-up that never forgets. Automatic e-mail notification confirms your back-up, giving the veterinarian peace of mind."

Eklin's VIA, the Veterinary Information Assistant, is a leading practice management solution that allows veterinarians to stay in control of their critical medical, financial, and back-office information. VIA is medically oriented software that uses hospital workflow concepts to improving operating efficiencies, staff communication, and patient care. The software excels in a variety of hospital environments including small animal, equine, mixed animal, emergency/referral, ambulatory and multiple location practices. The Hospitalization Functionality is the latest option available in the VIA family.

"Reception to this new functionality has been extremely enthusiastic," said Stafford. "It provides all the information a practice needs with complete detail whenever it is needed. Because it is all in an electronic format, a practice can now automatically track tasks, charges and patient progress like never before."
