Eight Healthcare Startups Selected for Rare Opportunity to Pitch Healthcare CIOs and Investors, June 10th at the Emerging Healthcare Technology Conference

Madison, WI (PRWEB) May 31, 2013

Eight tech-based, diverse healthcare start-up companies from Milwaukee, Madison, Minnesota and Chicago, will present 5 minute ”elevator” pitches to healthcare chief information officers (CIO), investors and healthcare leaders at “Start Me Up" the Emerging Healthcare Technology Day ( as part of the 11th annual Digital Healthcare Conference June 10-12 at the Fluno Center for Executive Education.

“The biggest challenge faced by early stage health IT companies is getting in front of decision-makers,” said Jonathan Baran, founder and CEO of healthfinch. “Start Me Up is a win-win for both start-ups and decision-makers. Start-ups get access to a large number of decision-makers in a small period of time. Decision-makers get access to vetted companies that drive innovation to their organizations.”

An independent advisory board of physicians, investors and healthcare executives selected the eight “showcase” companies. WTN Media produces the conference in conjunction with WTN News. These entrepreneurs will showcase how their firm’s technologies improve healthcare delivery, quality and patient safety. Healthcare leaders will also hear from CIO's regarding how best to approach start-ups for pilot projects.

Dan Wilson, an entrepreneur and co-founder of Moxe Health, said, “The region is primed to be a leader in health tech innovation and partnering with WTN Media to host the inaugural Start Me Up event provides a phenomenal opportunity to spotlight some of the most promising early-stage companies in the Midwest. We're excited to continue partnering with industry leaders to advance the health start-up ecosystem in Wisconsin and beyond. This is just the beginning!”

Funding for healthcare information technology (IT) grew dramatically in 2012 and is continuing to grow. Today, there are tremendous opportunities for entrepreneurs to transform healthcare.

“However, emerging healthcare information technology vendors are faced with many technical and business challenges when it comes to partnering and integrating with major electronic medical record developers," said Mike Klein, conference CEO and editorial director. "Start Me Up will feature informative and interactive discussions about how to develop and sell products for use by healthcare providers."

The 2013 “Healthcare Technology Showcase” includes the companies listed below. Each CEO will showcase their company’s technologies to healthcare executives and investors. Reporters wishing to contact individual companies and CEO’s may do so through WTN Media by calling 608-438-1007. More information on each of these companies is available at

“The big question is ‘Who pays for these things?’" said Promod Haque, a partner at Norwest Venture Partners. “If you are selling health care services to large enterprise providers, you have to convince them that there will be a fast ROI and then the investors are interested." There is a general awareness among institutional and strategic corporate investors that this health vertical is very important going forward, according to a story in VentureBeat.

In addition to targeting healthcare leaders, the conference also includes a session aimed at working with vendors. Tim Thompson, Vendor Relations Specialist for Epic, a Verona, Wisconsin - based supplier of electronic medical records, will lead the session, "Establishing Partnerships and Integration with Third Party HIT Vendors.”

Registration fees are $25 for emerging company representatives, healthcare IT start-ups and entrepreneurs who have been in business for less than two years, and $50 for investors and other interested parties.
