Springhill Medical Center Site of Recent Successful Activation
Springhill Medical Center, Mobile, AL recently activated Sunrise Pharmacy, as part of an upgrade to Sunrise Clinical Manager 4.5. One of the most recent Eclipsys clients to successfully activate Sunrise Pharmacy, Springhill Medical Center is taking advantage of the integration between Eclipsys' Knowledge-Based CPOE(TM) system and Sunrise Pharmacy to make the medication management process safer and more efficient, helping improve patient-care outcomes.
"Eclipsys' ability to complete the activation of Sunrise Clinical Manager 4.5 and Sunrise Pharmacy ahead of schedule and under budget is a testament to the company's project management expertise and a strong reminder of why we place so much value on our relationship," said Jeff St. Clair, chief operating officer, Springhill Medical Center. "With 100 percent adoption of Sunrise Pharmacy, we have taken an important step towards automating all of our medication management workflows to help reduce avoidable medication errors."
Eclipsys Fully Integrated Medication Management Solution
Eclipsys' Sunrise Pharmacy automates the Pharmacy's distribution workflow, including advanced clinical decision support capabilities via Eclipsys' rules engine to help ensure the safe ordering and administration of medications. Sunrise Pharmacy is a component of Eclipsys' end-to-end medication management solution that integrates the workflows of physicians placing orders, pharmacists as they monitor medication therapy and dispense medications and nurses administering the medications incorporating the "five rights." When the patient is ready to go home, orders are seamlessly converted to prescriptions, with full reconciliation logic automatically captured.
"Since last year's ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting, Eclipsys has made remarkable progress with Sunrise Pharmacy as we now have seven clients live -- and we plan to more than double that number over the next three to four months," said Jay Deady, Eclipsys executive vice president, Client Solutions. "Because of our success so far with Sunrise Pharmacy, we are seeing a significant increase in demand for the solution from our existing clients to replace their non integrated pharmacy and medication administration solutions from other vendors. This positive momentum for Sunrise Pharmacy, combined with Eclipsys having one of the only fully integrated medication management solutions in the industry, has significantly improved our competitive position in new business enterprise clinical opportunities."
Sunrise Pharmacy Helps Children's Hospital Achieve Outcome Improvements
In just over ten months after activating Sunrise Pharmacy and automating its pharmacy's distribution workflow, including advanced clinical decision support capabilities to ensure the safe ordering and administration of medications, Children's Hospital, Omaha, NE, has further enhanced patient safety, in addition to experiencing measurable benefits. A recent survey indicates that the new system allows Children's Hospital's clinical pharmacists to verify and transmit pharmacy orders without leaving rounds, resulting in a 100% increase in the time they are available to the rounding team. The implementation process has also improved workflows and materials management, resulting in a significant increase in pharmacy revenue.
