EMJ Cleaning Service Offers Discount Following Severe Weather

EMJ Cleaning, an Atlanta-based maid and professional cleaning service, offered its customers a discount last week following a string of severe weather. The service offered discount residential and commercial cleaning to anyone in Atlanta or the surrounding areas whose home or business was affected by flooding or otherwise damaged by last week’s storming. The discount follows days of tornadoes, heavy rain and flooding that occurred throughout the Southeast last week.

The week of January 28, 2013 brought days of severe weather to north and central Georgia as a 1,000-mile-long storm system rushed across the region. Tornadoes, strong winds and heavy thunderstorms overtook several areas, resulting in flooding and other storm damage, such as downed trees and power outages. Highways and roads in Bartow, Dekalb, Fulton and Jackson counties were closed or under advisory to avoid due to flooding, and many homes and businesses suffered severe storm damage from flooding and tornadoes that swept through the state and the rest of the Southeast.

Midtown Atlanta experienced some major flooding as sewers overflowed, resulting in flooded parking decks and floating large objects like dumpsters and cars. Water that rushed into homes and businesses was potentially dangerous, as flood waters often contain hazardous chemicals and bacteria.

Areas north of Atlanta suffered some of the fiercest damage from tornadoes and high winds. Homes, manufacturing plants, and small businesses were totally or partially destroyed. There were several reports of flipped cars. Authorities also warned that standing water could conceal downed wires or sharp object and should be avoided at all costs.
