ECO2 Plastics, Inc. Receives Favorable FDA Opinion Letter Approving the Use of Its Recycled Plastic Flake in Food Packaging Applications

SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ECO2 Plastics, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: EOPI) the eco-friendly recycling company that is changing the way plastics are recycled, today announced that it has received a favorable opinion letter from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which affirms the effectiveness of its proprietary waterless cleaning process for recycling post consumer plastic, allowing the Company's recycled plastic flake to be used in food packaging applications.

Rougelot added, "Having achieved the highest level of approval in nine FDA Condition of Use categories clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of our proprietary process, while answering the question that inspired the foundation of our business; 'What if washing didn't entail the use of water?'"

Excerpts from the opinion letter include deeming the ECO2 process effective at reducing contaminants that result in a dietary concentration below .5 parts per billion, the FDA's threshold of regulatory concern. The FDA concluded that ECO2's secondary recycling process, as described in the Company's submissions, would produce RPET that is of a purity suitable for use up to 100% recycled content in the manufacture of articles in contact with all food types, under Conditions of Use A (i.e. ready-prepared foods to be reheated in container at time of use) through H (i.e. frozen and refrigerated storage; ready-prepared foods intended to be reheated in container at time of use) and J (i.e. cooking at temperatures exceeding 121 degrees Celsius such as baking and browning), which can be accessed from the Internet in the Food Ingredients and Packaging section under the Food topic at http://www.fda.gov.
