Five Child Ambassadors Will Win a Trip to New York City to Meet Breslin,
and to Spread Joy to Kids in Need During the Holidays
BETHEL, Conn., Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Duracell and actress Abigail Breslin today kicked off a nationwide search for Duracell Holiday Ambassadors to help "Power A Smile" this holiday season. The winning ambassadors will work alongside Breslin, best known for her Academy Award nominated role in "Little Miss Sunshine," to spread smiles and cheer to children in hospitals throughout the country and in their own communities.
Children between the ages of six and 15 are invited to participate via online and in-person casting calls. The online casting call will take place at http://www.PowerASmile.com from Oct. 19 through Nov. 10, 2007. To enter, parents can upload a video or photos of their children exhibiting that moment of excitement upon opening or powering up a gift for the first time.

This year, Duracell wants to power even more smiles around the country, especially in those places where smiles are needed most, such as children's hospitals," said Lynn Mepham, global marketing director, Duracell, The Procter & Gamble Company.
The winners will receive a trip to New York City to meet Breslin, a $500 shopping spree, Duracell batteries to power all of their holiday toys, and the chance to power smiles for less fortunate children this holiday season.
"At Duracell, we believe that all children should experience the elation of seeing a new toy power up for the first time," said Mepham. "That's why we are looking for happy and enthusiastic children between the ages of six and 15 to help bring that same feeling to others this holiday season."
Participants will be judged based on their most enthusiastic demonstration of excitement when opening or powering up a gift for the first time. Judges also will consider overall charisma, as well as suitability as a spokesperson for the event.
The judging panel will include Parenting magazine editor-in-chief Janet Chan, representatives from Duracell, as well as representatives from local and national children's hospitals. Duracell will choose five ambassadors in all - two winners will be selected through in-person casting calls in Dallas and Chicago; and three winners will be selected through a national online casting call from Oct. 19 through Nov. 10, 2007. Winners will be selected by Nov. 26, 2007.
Rules and Regulations
The Duracell Power A Smile Contest (the "Promotion" or "Contest") is offered only to individuals who are legal residents of the 50 United States or District of Columbia. The contest is only for children between the ages of six to 15 (as of date of participation) with the consent of a parent or legal guardian over the age of 18.
