DrugNews Alerts of Court Records Showing Rise In Mirena IUD Complaints
Date:9/4/2013

New York, NY (PRWEB) September 04, 2013

The birth control safety center at DrugNews.net is advising women using the Mirena IUD of updated information on the site. Along with a rise in complaints to the FDA, the latest court records show the number of lawsuits alleging perforation injuries has risen 17%*.

DrugNews is a resource center which gives those using popular prescription drugs or medical devices access to the latest safety alerts, recalls, studies and legal news. Visitors can determine if others are experiencing similar side effects and decide if they need legal advice.

The resource center contains warnings from health experts about possible injury from Mirena IUDs. The FDA has previously advised that patients can suffer perforation of reproductive organs during device implantation**.

DrugNews has also added a study from the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons which warns that Mirena IUDs can become dislodged and perforate the uterine wall after they are implanted***. FDA records also show the agency has received 70,072 reports of Mirena side effects, with as many as 6,000 involving device dislocation or uterus perforation****.

Due to the number of patients filing a Mirena lawsuit, federal cases have been consolidated to a special multi-district litigation court in New York (In Re: Mirena IUD Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2434, Southern District New York).

Now, DrugNews has learned the latest court records show the number of cases filed has increased over 17% in the past month, from 105 on July 10 to 123 on August 15th*.

Anyone who suffered perforation or required surgery while using a Mirena IUD is urged to speak with a lawyer about their legal options. However, DrugNews only recommends lawyers who are already handling Mirena lawsuits.
