DrugNews Adds Latest Court Updates on Mirena IUD Lawsuits

The birth control safety center at DrugNews.net is alerting women using the Mirena IUD contraceptive of new legal information on the site. A federal panel recently issued a new report showing the number of lawsuits pending for July alleging side effects from the device*.

DrugNews is a free resource for those using popular prescription drugs and medical devices. By giving patients the latest safety alerts, recalls, studies and legal news all in one place, they can see if others are experiencing similar side effects, avoid potential dangers and decide if they need legal advice.

The Mirena IUD was approved by the FDA in 2000. The resource center previously added warnings from health experts such as the FDA that patients can suffer reproductive organ tearing during device implantation**.

DrugNews also added information about a federal lawsuit alleging the device caused a patient to suffer permanent vision problems due to a condition called pseudotumor cerebri, or PTC***. The Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation has scheduled a hearing for July 31st to decide whether to consolidate a growing number of these claims into a special Mirena court for vision loss and neurological disorders****.

Now, the resource center has learned the latest JPML court update for July shows 612 cases are pending alleging side effects from MIrena IUDs*.

Anyone who suffered uterus perforation, vision loss or PTC while using a Mirena IUD is urged to visit DrugNews.net for more information or speak with a lawyer about their legal options. DrugNews only recommends lawyers who are already handling Mirena lawsuits.
