DrugNews: Court Records Show Growth In Claims Alleging Pradaxa Bleeding Injury
Date:10/23/2013

New York, NY (PRWEB) October 23, 2013

The medication safety advocates at DrugNews.net are alerting patients taking the blood thinner Pradaxa of new information on the site. Records released this week from a special federal court show the number of lawsuits alleging the drug caused internal bleeding have risen*.

DrugNews offers the latest information on recalls, safety alerts, research and litigation news to those patients taking popular prescription drugs. Visitors can see if others are experiencing similar side effects and decide if they need legal advice.

Pradaxa is a blood thinner approved by the FDA in 2010 as a stroke preventative for patients with atrial fibrillation. While the FDA has stated Pradaxa is as safe as traditional blood thinner warfarin,** other experts disagree.

The Institute for Safe Medication Practices has warned that patients may be nearly 5 times as likely to die from Pradaxa bleeding than from warfarin bleeding***. A study this year from the Netherlands also suggests patients taking newer blood thinners like Pradaxa may be 55% more likely to suffer internal bleeding****.

Due to the amount of patients who have filed a Pradaxa lawsuit alleging internal bleeding, cases have been consolidated to a special federal court in Illinois. The case is formally known as MDL No. 2385, IN RE: Pradaxa Product Liability Litigation, Southern District of Illinois.

Now, DrugNews has added court records released this week which show the number of cases filed has increased from 1,470 on September 11th to 1,643 on October 17, a rise of nearly 12% in a month*.

Anyone affected by internal bleeding after taking Pradaxa is encouraged to visit DrugNews.net or speak with a lawyer about their legal options. However, due to the specialized nature of federal drug injury cases, DrugNews only recommends lawyers who have already handled Pradaxa lawsuits.

Visit http://www.DrugNews.net today for more information on the research, side effects and litigation news related to Pradaxa and other drugs, or to speak with a lawyer.
