Drews Dental Services Provides No-Cost Dental Care to Veterans on Nov. 15
Date:11/7/2013

Lewiston, ME (PRWEB) November 07, 2013

Dental treatment is ranked in the top 10 of the highest unmet needs for veterans. Dental problems, such as pain and/or missing teeth, can be tremendous barriers in seeking and obtaining employment. Studies have shown that after dental care, veterans report significant improvement in perceived oral health, general health and overall self-esteem, thus supporting the argument that access to dental care is key for this population.

Dr. Peter J. Drews, D.D.S. is a general dentist, and United States Navy veteran. On Friday, Nov. 15, both Dr. Drews and his staff at Drews Dental Services, P.C. will be opening the office from 8 a.m. to noon with the goal of serving local veterans by providing teeth cleanings, screenings and treatment for urgent and/or needed restorative care. Smile Again Dentures’ Joe and Mike Adkins are donating a set of dentures as part of this effort. Mike Adkins is a United States Air Force veteran.

Due to an expected high volume, individuals are requested to please call and leave their contact information. This number has been specifically designated for veterans so that appointments can be allocated and scheduled for the appropriate time allowance.

There will be no charge; individuals are simply requested to bring military identification, a V.A. card, or DD Form 214.

Given current concerns over the access of dental care in the State of Maine, this serves as an important opportunity to give back to those who have sacrificed.
