Drake's Customized Hospitality Solutions with Pro:Idiom

Enable MSOs to Conveniently Deliver HD channels to Hotels, Hospitals

WASHINGTON, April 1 /PRNewswire/ -- R.L. Drake, an American cable TV equipment manufacturer committed to designing and building highly innovative communications solutions for over 65 years, has checked in as distributor of LG Electronics' Pro: Idiom(R) cable transcoders to cable operators in the United States and Canada. Drake will integrate the revolutionary Pro:Idiom system into its Drake Digital Hospitality Solutions, a customized line of products for the lodging and health care industries to offer securely encrypted HD video content for guests.

"Drake is an established brand and leading cable TV equipment manufacturer that will expand the presence of Pro:Idiom in the lodging industry," said Richard Lewis, vice president, research and technology, LG Electronics USA, Inc. "Our technologies will complement each other to offer an easy and secure all-in-one solution to help bring cable's high-definition video channels to hotel guest rooms."

Drake's experienced sales team will market the Pro:Idiom system as part of the Drake Digital HD Hospitality Solutions to leading MSOs. Drake Digital HD Hospitality Solutions also includes a custom designed, secure, rack-based headend for each property incorporating LG's Pro:Idiom Cable Transcoders, Drake's Edge QAM Modulators, related technical components, and Drake's legendary customer support.

"Pro:Idiom technology has spread like wildfire across the hospitality industry because it's the only cost-effective digital solution that satisfies the security concerns of the entertainment industry while eliminating the need for set-top boxes in guest rooms," said Jeff Huppertz, CEO of Drake. "Its DRM (digital right management) platform is so secure because it uses the Advanced Encryption Standard system of 128 bit key, which is relied upon for financial transactions and protecting government information."

Pro:Idiom is a DRM system developed specifically for all ranges of lodging properties, from small hotels to mega-resorts. It offers fast, broad deployment of HDTV and other digital content with secure encryption. Pro:Idiom is embedded in the TV, which eliminates the need for set top boxes in the room, and prevents guests from tampering with components or pirating digital content. The system is ideal for both cable-delivered pay TV content and video-on-demand (VOD) services.

The Drake HD Hospitality Solutions will debut at The Cable Show 2009 in Washington, D.C. from April 1 - 3 at Drake's booth #1023.

Pro:Idiom is a registered trademark of Zenith Electronics LLC.
