Vonda Wright, MD., a board certified orthopedic surgeon, is leading the “movement” to get Americans off the couch, and moving to a better “you.” With 2013 here, comes New Year’s resolutions. Dr. Wright has launched a 13-week “Guide to Thrive” blog that aids as a program for helping Americans adhere to their commitment to get moving!
“Most of my patients know they want to be healthy but are surrounded by confusing and contradicting information about their health,” said Dr. Wright. “Many of us are great at planning every aspect of our lives – business meetings and soccer practice, but leave out the necessary time to focus on health.”
Over the next 13 weeks Dr. Wright will share four practical steps for “THRIVE-ing in 2013.” In her book, Dr. Vonda Wright’s Guide to THRIVE: 4 steps to Body, Brains and Bliss, a 4-step plan is outlined to; create A Vision for one’s health, to take Action with great moves and eating tips; the need to change one’s attitude (and recognize the links between mind and body); and measure one’s Achievement to live the best years now.
“I want people to know that by adding only 20 minutes of mobility to your usual day of sitting in the office or in the car, you can decrease your chances of early death by 20%. This is a start but not the whole story,” added Dr. Wright.
