Dr. Therese Fitzpatrick to Present Award Winning Poster at AONE

CHICAGO, April 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Therese Fitzpatrick, PhD, RN, Executive Vice President and Healthcare Practice Leader for The Optime Group will present her award winning poster Optimizing Nursing Human Capital: The Five Rights of Staffing(C) at the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) 42nd Annual Meeting and Exposition, held April 15 - 19th, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio Texas. The AONE Annual Meeting and Exposition brings together nearly 2,600 nurse executives and nurse leaders from across the country.

This poster presentation won the Greatest Potential Contribution to Nursing Practice at the Nursing and Midwifery in the Modern Healthcare System International Conference. This major international conference was held at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). On February 26th Dr. Fitzpatrick accepted the award.

"The days of presuming that a budget is going to work for you for 12 months are over," according to Dr. Fitzpatrick. She recommends modeling different census scenarios when you do your nurse staffing budget. Identifying the best scheduling solutions requires managing a variety of sometimes conflicting priorities. To do this well often requires a new and improved set of skills and tools known as mathematical optimization, says Fitzpatrick.

Dr. Fitzpatrick has more than 25 years experience in health care, including positions as a chief nursing officer, executive vice president of a nurse staffing agency and serves on the Editorial Board of Nursing Economics. In her faculty role she has experience teaching nursing administration graduate students.
