Dr. Ray Ortiz, Dentist at Center For Smiles in Oldsmar, FL Introduces CEREC Technology for Same-Day Restorations

Oldsmar, FL (PRWEB) October 02, 2013

Dr. Ray Ortiz of Center for Smiles in Oldsmar, FL recently introduced CEREC technology that is allowing patients to receive precise dental restorations within one visit, a process that traditionally takes up to several weeks. While the patient’s tooth is prepared for the restoration, the CEREC machine uses advanced laser technology to mill the precisely measured restoration from a small ceramic block. Once the restoration is completed, it is then placed on the prepared tooth and checked for an exact fit.

Prior to CEREC technology, the process of providing a patient with a ceramic restoration took up to several weeks and at least two office visits. Impressions were first taken at the office, and the patient’s tooth would be prepared and fitted with a temporary crown. The completed ceramic restoration would return from the outsourced lab 1-2 weeks later, when the pat
