Dr. Can Talug Joins the Urology Department at The South Bend Clinic

Can (pronounced John) Talug, M.D., is joining Dr. Carl Walker in the Urology Department at The South Bend Clinic. Previously, Dr. Talug was the assistant professor of urology and the associate urology residency program director at West Virginia University in Morgantown, W.Va. He also served as the cancer liaison physician for the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center’s accredited program by the Commission on Cancer.

Dr. Talug is a board-certified urologist and fellowship-trained in minimally invasive urologic oncology. His primary area of interest and expertise lies in the practice of minimally invasive robotic surgery utilizing the da Vinci® Surgical System. In addition to his involvement in cancer research and education regarding this groundbreaking platform for robotically-assisted, minimally invasive surgery, Dr. Talug has also served as case proctor for Intuitive Surgical®, the company that designs and builds the da Vinci Surgical System.

After completing his Bachelor of Science at the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio, where he graduated summa cum laude, Dr. Talug went on to receive his Doctor of Medicine from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in Rootstown, Ohio. He completed his internship in general surgery and his residency in urology at West Virginia University Hospital. He then completed a fellowship in minimally invasive urologic oncology at City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte, Calif.

Dr. Talug is dedicated to research and ongoing education in the field of urologic-related cancers. He has authored numerous publications, taught courses
