Dr. Benjamin Stong is the First Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon to Display the ABFPRS Board Certification Diplomate Logo
Date:4/12/2013

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) April 12, 2013

Dr. Benjamin C. Stong is the first facial plastic surgeon to display the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ABFPRS) Diplomate Board Certification logo, which was just trademarked, patented, and released for use by its diplomates in their display information. The logo represents board certification and centers of excellence in facial plastic surgery. It also symbolizes the highest level of specialization, education, and certification in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and is the first distinguishing logo to define which surgeons performing facial plastic surgery procedures are truly board certified in facial plastic surgery.

The ABFPRS certifies its diplomates in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face, head, and neck. Only diplomates certified by the ABFPRS are board certified in the specialty of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive surgery. Diplomates are most commonly double board certified in Otolaryngology: Head and Neck Surgery and Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery by the American Board of Otolaryngology: Head and Neck Surgery and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The logo means that Dr. Stong and other diplomates displaying the logo have been educated and trained in the most advanced contemporary techniques in facial plastic surgery. “There are many things to consider when selecting a doctor to perform your facial cosmetic or reconstructive surgery,” said Dr. Stong. “Choosing a doctor who is double board certified in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery ensures that you will work with a well trained, experienced, and knowledgeable surgeon. To me, the logo also represents a significant advancement in patient advocacy and a tool to facilitate finding a board certified facial plastic surgeon,” he said.

The distinguished American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Inc., ® was established in 1986 to ensure the highest quality treatments available to the public by examining professional expertise in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. The board developed specific standards, qualifications, exams, reviews, and certifications in order to achieve this prestigious title that meets the very highest standards in medicine. The ABFPRS certification can only be obtained by either board certified Otolaryngologist: Head and Neck Surgeons or Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons who have passed rigorous qualifications and examinations by the ABPFRS. “Until this logo was created, there was no great way to determine who is board certified in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive surgery, and other clinicians who are not board certified, but advertise facial plastic surgery procedures,” said Dr. Stong.

Facial plastic surgeons perform many popular cosmetic procedures including: facelifts, blepharoplasty (eye lifts), rhinoplasty, chin and cheek enhancement, as well as other less invasive procedures such as Botox, facial fillers, and laser skin resurfacing. Additionally, facial reconstructive surgery rebuilds a person’s self confidence after trauma, cancer, or congenital birth defects. Dr. Stong said, “Not only are the ABFPRS and its diplomates excited to display this logo to identify centers of excellence, but also to help patients make informed decisions prior to undergoing surgical procedures, ensuring the highest quality outcomes.”
