Dr. Alan Farber Offers Attractive Solution for Gum Disease by Performing a New Type of Procedure, the LANAP® Protocol
Date:7/15/2014

Hauppauge, New York (PRWEB) July 16, 2014

At Farber Center for Periodontics & Dental Implants, Long Island, NY area patients can receive the latest in minimally invasive gum disease treatment with Dr. Alan Farber's use of the Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP®). Traditional treatments for periodontal infection remove some portions of healthy gum in addition to diseased tissue, however, the Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP®) is able to target only the infected areas leaving healthy tissue, in most cases, untouched and intact.

LANAP® is a new technology utilized to perform periodontal surgery. It treats periodontitis faster than other methods and with minimal discomfort, helping to alleviate symptoms such as bleeding gums and restore overall oral health. The LANAP® laser surgical procedure is a regenerative procedure. Within this procedure, the healthy gum tissue is not harmed in anyway while it has been shown that the bone structure is regenerated. This laser treatment recognizes pigmentation and destroys just the bacteria and infected gum tissues.

The LANAP® procedure includes several simple steps: examination, local anesthesia, procedure and post treatment visits. Dr. Alan Farber and his experienced periodontal team will determine pocket depth during examination and then take X-rays to evaluate bone loss and seriousness of the infection. Oral sedation may be utilized simply to keep the patient calm. Many patients have the procedure done and then continue their daily activities. The endpoint of the laser is as thin as a hair strand and fits perfectly between your gums and teeth getting rid of the bacteria easily and comfortably. After the procedure, the area is thoroughly cleaned. The heat from the laser is used to seal the gums and form a blood clot, which blocks bacteria from re-entering the area.

If you are looking for less time in surgery, faster recovery, little mouth trauma or discomfort, the LANAP® procedure may be a better option for your gum disease treatment.
