Dorsey Schools, Detroit Area's Preeminent Career Training School, Opens a Fifth Campus in Farmington Hills
Date:1/22/2008

MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich., Jan. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- On February 18, Dorsey Schools will open its fifth career training school at 33045 Hamilton Court, Farmington Hills, Michigan. The Farmington Hills facility has the capacity for 250 students in an intimate, small campus, community-style setting. This approximately 7,500 square-foot campus will focus on an allied health curriculum offering morning, afternoon and evening classes in medical assisting and patient care technician fields.

Dorsey Schools, founded in Detroit in 1934, is one of the area's oldest postsecondary career training institutions offering business, computer, legal and healthcare curriculum. There are currently 1,000 students enrolled in Dorsey's four campuses located in Madison Heights, Roseville, Southgate and Wayne Westland, with approximately 160 full- and part-time employees.

"We are extremely proud of Dorsey's 74-year-old reputation of being the 'Career Connection,' helping adults achieve their career enhancement goals," said Patricia Fischer, president of Dorsey Schools. "We are especially proud of our employment rate among our patient care technician graduates, many of whom are working in the area's largest hospitals.

"Enrollment among our other four campuses has increased 33 percent during the past 15 months and we believe our new Farmington Hills location gives us the opportunity to expand the quality of career-focused programs, by not simply training adults in new careers, but helping them become employed," Fischer added.

Fischer has been with Dorsey Schools since 1993 and was senior vice president prior to being named president in December 2005. She is credited with instituting the school's highly successful medical assistant program in 1995 as well as the patient care technician program in 2003. Fischer is a commissioner with the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools and on the board of the Michigan Association of Career Schools.

Dorsey Schools is owned by Quad Ventures, New York, NY and Gemini Investors, Wellesley, MA. Dorsey Schools is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools and licensed by the State of Michigan's Department of Labor and Economic Growth, Office of Postsecondary Services, Proprietary School Unit.
