Reaching Out to Rhode Island Children in Need

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I., Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- On Saturday evening, December 15, 2007, over 180 employees and guests of Dominion Diagnostics joined together in the spirit of the holidays to celebrate at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick, RI. The party proved a sight to be seen; ivory calla lilies and decorative votives filled the Crowne's Plaza Ballroom, and many guests dressed to the nines for the event. Yet, perhaps the most striking decoration in the room was the overflowing table of donated toys for children in Rhode Island's Toys for Tots initiative.

This year, as a new tradition to its holiday celebration, Dominion requested that guests bring toys to donate to RI's chapter of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. In the spirit of giving, Donna Jordan, wife of Dominion's Chief Operating Officer Stephen Jordan, had brought the idea to Dominion's attention.

Dominion employees and guests donated a total of over 80 toys that will be appropriate for children up to 13 years of age. With the recent report that Toys for Tots donations are down this year in our state, Dominion's generosity will certainly make a difference for many children.

On Wednesday, Dominion representatives personally delivered the items to RI Toys for Tots Coordinator SSgt Manases Cabrera and his team of volunteers. Additionally, Dominion provided an additional monetary donation to assist in last minute toy purchases for any remaining children.
