Pittsburgh, PA (Vocus) February 24, 2010 -- Last week Dr. Joseph Maroon and Dr. Bryan Donohue, told interviewers on KDKA TV (http://firstname.lastname@example.org) in Pittsburgh that if you want to stop aging, there are two ways to do it.
“The first way is to restrict your calories to near starvation levels. This turns off the aging process in animals and in people,” Dr. Maroon said.
Most agree that consistently eating less may not be worth it to gain a few extra years. Consuming 50-70% of the normal amount of calories involves drastic changes in everyday living, not just avoiding the pitfalls of birthday parties, holiday celebrations and other celebrations that are part of life. It also seems to take away the fun in life since food is closely tied with socialization.
But there is another way. By consuming a plant constituent called Resveratrol, you can turn off the aging process and turn on longevity without the starvation. Resveratrol acts at the genetic level, mimicking the genetic effects of near starvation calorie restriction.
Both doctors spoke about their findings with patients and the “jaw-dropping” technology discoveries behind the Vindure 900 Resveratrol dietary supplement.
Natural sources of Resveratrol include red grapes, peanuts and blueberries. Vinomis uses Resveratrol and red grape extract in their product to provide a broad spectrum of polyphenols for maximum benefits. They also include 100mg of another longevity gene activator found in red grapes, Quercetin, another polyphenol.
So far, scientific studies confirm that Resveratrol turns on genes that increase longevity and can assist in strength, endurance and mental sharpness, and help promote heart health.
“The basic science takes your breath away. It’s that good,” said Dr. Donohue. “The number of studies supporting the use of Resveratrol to improve health is staggering.”
Also featured in the interview was former Pittsburgh Steelers halfback Rocky Bleier, who confirmed that Vindure 900 has improved his health and mental sharpness. He is a patient of both Dr. Donohue and Dr. Maroon.
The interview was broadcast on a number CBS affiliates.
