Disabled Sacramento Woman, 110, Receives Power Wheelchair Donation from The SCOOTER Store
Date:1/25/2008

rs. Pittman saw power wheelchairs on a television advertisement for The SCOOTER Store. They decided to call and get more information. Initially, they were disappointed when Mrs. Pittman's insurance would not pay for a power wheelchair, but later they were thrilled to learn about The SCOOTER Store's Gift of Mobility program, which makes power mobility equipment available to people without the insurance coverage or resources to pay for it.

"We are happy that Mrs. Pittman can continue being an active senior citizen and enjoy the company of her friends and family," said Doug Harrison, CEO and founder of The SCOOTER Store. "We started the program to help people like Mrs. Pittman improve their mobility and enjoy more freedom and independence."

Mr. Harrison and his wife, Susanna, started the Gift of Mobility program in December 2002 to help people in need acquire power mobility equipment that can improve their quality of life. Since then, the outreach program has worked with organizations around the world to donate power wheelchairs, scooters and manual wheelchairs valued at more than $200,000 a year to community service organizations, enabling them to provide freedom and independence to individuals with limited mobility.
