Investigators from the Obesity Action Coalition (OAC), The Obesity Society (TOS) and pharmaceutical company Eisai conducted a study concerning a lack of interest in seeking help from local weight loss clinics, seemingly due to patient discomfort and an unwillingness to discuss options for treatment. Reported on by Medical News Today, the study reveals that although one may assume that physicians would be discussing weight loss interventions with overweight patients, survey results report that this is not always the case. Only 4 out of 10 patients report that their physicians have suggested weight loss, while 20% of patients report that this conversation is often avoided due to discomfort and embarrassment.
