HARRISBURG, Pa., Jan. 28 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- To support Pennsylvanians who made a New Year's resolution to give up tobacco, the Pennsylvania Department of Health today announced that Governor Edward G. Rendell has proclaimed Jan. 28 through Feb. 1 as "Determined to Quit Week."
"Determined to Quit Week is all about motivating Pennsylvanians to follow through on their commitment to be tobacco-free," said Secretary of Health Dr. Calvin B. Johnson. "For anyone who may be struggling after their first few weeks, we encourage them to use our new Web site, DeterminedToQuit.com, or to call our quit coaches for the added support that is proven to help new quitters succeed."
The Web site, which was launched Jan. 1, will be demonstrated during a Tuesday, Jan. 29, news conference at the state Capitol. Dr. Johnson will also discuss other resources available through the commonwealth, as well as initiatives to address tobacco use in Pennsylvania.
The Web site is part of an ongoing campaign to help Pennsylvanians quit, or not start, using tobacco products and to curb the retail sale of tobacco to minors.
