Denver, NC Dentist Dr. Frank Avason Introduces Sedation Dentistry for Increased Patient Comfort

Denver, NC (PRWEB) July 24, 2013

Dr. Frank Avason recently introduced sedation dentistry to his patients in Denver, NC. An estimated 75 percent of people in the US experience a fear of the dentist or of dental procedures to some degree. Dr. Avason understands the fears that his patients feel and he is now highly trained in sedation dentistry offering a range of solutions for patients to be able to experience relaxation and comfort during any dental procedure.

Dental anxiety is most commonly referred to as a reaction from an unknown danger and is extremely common among patients. With the many types of sedation available, patients experience increased comfort, movement control, little or no memory of the treatment and more.

“For anyone experiencing any level of apprehension about dentistry and is in need of a dental procedure, whether general or cosmetic, there is an option available for them,” said Dr. Frank Avason of Avason Family Dentistry in Denver, NC. “We’ll discuss the specific need of the patient and together decide the best treatment for eliminating any fears.”

Dr. Avason provides a variety of anxiety-free options. For patients who need only minor reassurance, Nitrous Oxide is an option for them. Nitrous has no side effects and the patient’s senses return to normal as soon as the gas is removed. For someone who is considering significant dental work done in one appointment, oral sedation (prescribed medicine taken before the appointment) is an option for them. Lastly, IV sedation is for those who will have extensive dental work completed within one day or for invasive surgery.

The goal of the professionals at Avason Family Dentistry is to assist their patients in looking and feeling confident using state of the art dental equipment and technology. Dr. Avason is an Invisalign dentist and dental implants dentist in Denver, NC and provides a wide range of general and cosmetic services such as teeth whitening, root canal therapy, lumineers and periodontal treatment.

Dr. Frank Avason graduated 8th in his class at University of Kentucky College of Dentistry after he received his Bachelor of Science at the Albany College of Pharmacy. He continued his education at a three-year periodontal residency at UK, where he received his Master of Science degree. Currently, he is a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology, the North Carolina Dental Society. Dr. Avason is a licensed periodontist and continues to keep an active pharmacy license.
