Dental Operatory Equipment and Practice Management Software Market in the U.S. to Reach Almost $2 Billion by 2016
Date:3/2/2010

European Market for CBCT Scanners to Drive Growth in the Overall Dental Imaging Market

VANCOUVER, March 2 /PRNewswire/ - According to a new global report series by iData Research (www.idataresearch.net), the leading authority in medical device, dental and pharmaceutical market research, the U.S. market for dental operatory equipment and practice management software will reach $1.9 billion by 2016. In 2009, the two largest segments in the combined dental operatory equipment and practice management software market were dental furniture/cabinetry and imaging systems, representing 38.5% and 38.7% of the total market, respectively. The market for dental furniture and cabinetry includes operatory chairs, lights, delivery units and cabinetry.

"Dental practices are acquiring imaging systems and upgrading their practice management software in an effort to become chartless (complete digital patient charting)," says Dr. Kamran Zamanian, CEO of iData. "In 2009, almost 40% of dental offices had chartless capabilities and this is expected to more than double by 2016. In addition, the number of offices fully-utilizing this capability is expected to increase dramatically."

The reports state that the economic recession led to a decrease in sales in the overall U.S. X-ray imaging market, while the digital systems segment of the market continued to grow. The reports also state that there is a greater acceptance of photostimulable-phosphor-plate (PSP) systems in Europe than in the United States.

iData's global series on the Markets for Dental Operatory Equipment 2010 includes comprehensive analyses of the markets for: dental imaging systems including intraoral X-rays, intraoral analog film, PSP systems, digital sensors and extraoral X-rays; as well as furniture/cabinetry, curing lights, autoclaves, microscopes, practice management software, CBCT scanners, intraoral and extraoral cameras. The report series also includes comprehensive competitive analyses, which cover companies such as A-dec, Dexis, Gendex, Kodak, Midmark and Sirona, among others.
