European Market for CBCT Scanners to Drive Growth in the Overall Dental Imaging Market

VANCOUVER, March 2 /PRNewswire/ - According to a new global report series by iData Research (, the leading authority in medical device, dental and pharmaceutical market research, the U.S. market for dental operatory equipment and practice management software will reach $1.9 billion by 2016. In 2009, the two largest segments in the combined dental operatory equipment and practice management software market were dental furniture/cabinetry and imaging systems, representing 38.5% and 38.7% of the total market, respectively. The market for dental furniture and cabinetry includes operatory chairs, lights, delivery units and cabinetry.

"Dental practices are acquiring imaging systems and upgrading their practice management software in an effort to become chartless (complete digital patient charting)," says Dr. Kamran Zamanian, CEO of iData. "In 2009, almost 40% of dental offices had chartless capabilities and this is expected to more than double by 2016. The reports also state that there is a greater acceptance of photostimulable-phosphor-plate (PSP) systems in Europe than in the United States.
