DentaSOAK Dental Cleaner Reduces Infection Risk Linked to Mouthguards
Date:11/23/2009

Great Lakes Orthodontics, Ltd. (Tonawanda, N.Y.) offers DentaSOAK®, a professional dental cleaner powerful enough to kill more than 99% of infection-causing bacteria found on athletic mouthguards.

Tonawanda, NY (PRWEB) November 23, 2009 -- A study conducted by Oklahoma State University found that mouthguards used regularly are highly contaminated with bacteria and microorganisms from staph to strep to pneumococci. The results of the study, published by General Dentistry*, show that many athletes are exposing themselves to high levels of bacteria each time they use the mouthguard and left untreated, the bacteria multiplies and presents a serious infection risk.

Used properly, DentaSOAK® not only cleans, it destroys more than 99% of infection-causing bacteria. DentaSOAK® will help keep the mouthguard free from the bacteria and oral microbes that can cause serious infections.

The results of the study show that many athletes are exposing themselves to an “alarming amount of bacteria each time they put their mouthguard in to play. ‘You expose the mouthguard to, say, a thousand germs. Then you put the mouthguard away and, overnight, millions and millions of germs will grow from that thousand, so when you put the mouthguard back in, certainly you have a significant number of microorganisms,’ said microbiologist Dr. Tom Glass. ‘The mouthguard becomes highly, highly contaminated,’ said Dr. Glass. ‘In other words, every time the athlete puts the mouthguard into his mouth, it’s like putting a handful of dirt in his mouth.”

DentaSOAK is clinically proven to destroy stubborn candida albicans and other oral microbes that can lead to painful, recurring oral infection. Unlike other
