DePuy Pinnacle Lawsuits Move Forward, as Bernstein Liebhard LLP Notes Issuance of New Order in Federal Pinnacle Hip Litigation

DePuy Pinnacle lawsuits (http://www.consumerinjurylawyers.com/depuy-pinnacle/lawsuit) filed on behalf of recipients of a metal-on-metal version of DePuy Orthopaedics’ Pinnacle Hip Replacement System continue to move forward in the federal multidistrict litigation underway in U.S. District Court, Northern District of Texas, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports. According to an Order dated September 20, 2013, the parties will now be permitted to conduct electron microscopy and focused ion beam examination on Pinnacle components explanted from potential bellwether trial plaintiffs in accordance with protocols established by the Court. More than 4,800 DePuy Pinnacle lawsuits are now pending in the litigation underway in Texas. According to court records, the proceeding’s first bellwether trial, which could provide valuable insight into how juries might rule in similar claims, is scheduled to begin in September 2014.
