Resource4thePeople announced today that its national team of attorneys is now investigating claims from consumers who are alleging that they suffered serious health problems from DePuy knee sleeves.

"In response to numerous consumer inquiries about whether claims are also being investigated by our national network of lawyers we are now informing consumers that free consultations about such claims are available," said Resource4thePeople.

"This avenue of legal information is being added to our previous offer of free consultations involving consumer inquiries about lawsuits involving such allegations about DePuy knee sleeve lawsuits."

These announcements come in response to a "huge consumer reaction" to a Class 1 Recall issued by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration of the DePuy Orthopaedics LPS Diaphyseal Knee Sleeve in which authorities warned* that the failure of the device could have life-threatening consequences.

FDA officials, in their “Reason for Recall” explaining the action included a warning that health complications as drastic as death could occur if this device malfunctions, said Resource4thePeople.

“The LPS Diaphyseal Sleeve to Diaphyseal Sleeve Base taper connection may not be sufficient to accommodate potential physiologic loads that may be transferred to the junction during normal gait activities by some patients,” the FDA said in its warning.

“This may result in fracture of the sleeve at the taper joint which may also lead to loss of function or loss of limb, infection, compromised soft tissue or death.”

The FDA issued the warning on Feb. 22, 2013.
