DePuy ASR Lawsuits Move Forward in New Jersey, as Bernstein Liebhard LLP Notes Upcoming Pretrial Conference

Thousands of DePuy ASR lawsuits (http://www.depuy-asr-hip-recall.com/) filed in the wake of the August 2010 DePuy ASR hip recall continue to move forward in state and federal courts throughout the country, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports. According to court documents filed in a multicounty litigation established for DePuy ASR recall claims in New Jersey’s Bergen County Superior Court, the Court has scheduled a Pretrial Conference for October 8th at 9:30 a.m. The litigation’s first trial is scheduled to begin on October 21, 2013, and will involve two DePuy ASR lawsuits filed in the proceeding. In an Order dated August 13th, Superior Court Judge Brian R. Martinotti denied a defense request that sought separate trials for the two lawsuits. “We are looking forward to the commencement of this trial, as it is one of several scheduled in the coming months that could provide some hints as to how juries might rule in similar DePuy ASR lawsuits,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing the victims of defective drugs and medical devices, including hundreds of DePuy ASR hip recipients. Court documents from around the country indicate that more than 11,500 lawsuits have been filed since the DePuy ASR recall was announced. In addition to more than 650 claims pending in New Jersey, more than 8,200 DePuy ASR lawsuits have been filed in a multidistrict litigation underway in U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio, where Bernstein Liebhard LLP is actively filing claims.
