Date:8/11/2013

New York, New York (PRWEB) August 11, 2013

Lawsuits filed in the aftermath of the DePuy ASR hip recall (http://www.depuy-asr-hip-recall.com/) continue to move forward in the multidistrict litigation underway in U.S. District Court, Northern District Ohio, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports. In an Order issued on July 26th, U.S. District Judge David A. Katz ruled on the admissibility of certain evidence to be used in the litigation’s first trial of a DePuy ASR lawsuit, which is scheduled to begin next month. (In re: DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc. “Our Firm is representing hundreds of clients with claims pending in the federal DePuy ASR recall litigation. We are looking forward to the commencement of the litigation’s first bellwether trial in September,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing the victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm continues to offer free legal evaluations to anyone who suffered serious complications associated with the DePuy ASR recall.

DePuy ASR Recall
According to court documents, more than 11,000 DePuy ASR lawsuits have been filed in courts around the country since the August 2010 recall of the DePuy ASR XL Acetabular Hip System. At least 7,800 such claims are pending in the Northern District of Ohio. Plaintiffs in these lawsuits allege that the ASR’s metal-on-metal design has resulted in serious complications, including premature device failure necessitating revision surgery. The first bellwether trial in the federal proceeding will begin on September 9, 2013.
