Sample Chips Now Available From Pantek Technologies Corp. With Mass
Production Starting in May, 2008
HERZLIYA, Israel, February 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Dblur, the developer of Software Lens(TM) Technology, today announced the availability of a stand-alone chip that integrates Dblur's groundbreaking Software Lens(TM) Technology.
The PA-DB3615SA chip, produced by SMIC, enables Software Lens(TM) camera modules of up to 3.2Mp. Samples are currently available from Pantek Technologies Corp., a total solution distributor to the telecom and wireless industry in Taiwan. Mass production of the chip will begin in May, 2008.
The chip meets the demanding performance and cost requirements of camera phone vendors, by supporting multiple Software Lens(TM) applications including: wide apertures (low F#) for increased indoor use and improved low light camera performance (for both fixed and Auto-Focus cameras); Extended Depth-of-Field (EDoF) that enhances the camera's in-focus range from up-close business card and bar-code scanning to infinity; and low profile lens with up to 30% reduction in optical lens/zoom height.
"We decided to offer the first EDoF enabled chip in the market following requests we received for this technology from our handset vendor customer base in China and Taiwan," says Thomas Kuo of Pantek Technologies. "The market for EDoF solutions is obviously ripe, and the chip's availability is perfectly timed. Now module and handset vendors are able to use the Software Lens(TM) solution in their offering, ensuring they remain competitive in the mobile imaging market."
Guy N. Michrowsky, VP Marketing and Sales at Dblur Technologies,
commented, "The PA-DB3615SA chip is an important milestone. It ensures that
Dblur's technology is widely available to meet the immediate demand in the
market. It also provides a flexible solution that can be used with
different sensors and supports any sensor resolution up to 3.2Mp."
