Davis Vision's Community Outreach Programs Provide More Than $13 Million in Vision Care Aid in 2009
Date:1/14/2010

PLAINVIEW, N.Y., Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Davis Vision's increase in community outreach efforts in 2009 provided more than $13 million in vision services and materials to individuals in the U.S. and abroad.

The vision benefit company's Focus on America(SM) outreach program criss-crossed the nation to provide free vision screenings for those who could not afford or access such care. Individuals needing further vision care received vouchers to obtain comprehensive eye exams and eyewear at no cost.

More than 5,000 low income, uninsured or underinsured Americans benefited from the screening programs. Approximately 2,000 received follow-up care at select Davis Vision participating providers, including Total Vision Care, Empire Vision, EyeMasters and Cambridge Eye Doctors locations.

"The opportunity for Davis Vision to provide the ability to see is inherent in our company culture and is reflected in our tag line 'See Life'," said Tom Davis, Davis Vision's executive vice president & chief marketing officer. "It is also a cornerstone of our outreach programs, which provided millions of dollars in eyewear and services this year to help many underserved people in the U.S. and around the world improve their vision to 'See Life.'

"This year, we far surpassed our outreach goals. In 2010, we will support even more communities by expanding our efforts to new areas of the country with the launch of several new partnerships to help children and families obtain proper vision care."

Davis Vision's international outreach program, Sight from America(SM), provided more than 160,000 eyeglass frames to several organizations throughout the year.
