Pizzo has served in a number of leadership roles during his tenure with BCBSF including, most recently, vice president, advertising, brand management and market communications.

In his new role, Pizzo will be responsible for BCBSF business operations in Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas, Hernando and other western counties south to Collier.

"Dave's extensive background in marketing, sales and market intelligence leadership will enable the West coast team to continue providing health benefit solutions for employers of all sizes in the West coast market," said Jonathan Anderson, BCBSF vice president, local markets. His background includes 24 years experience in the health industry including marketing, advertising, brand strategy and sales. Pizzo began his career in health care as a pharmacist in 1982, joining E.R. Squibb & Sons in 1983 as a professional sales representative. He later moved into health care-related advertising and communications in New York and New Jersey.

Throughout his career, Pizzo has been active in community and civic organizations. Pizzo is an active member of the Gator Bowl Association and served on the Jacksonville XXXIX Super Bowl Host Committee.

Pizzo holds a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy from Rutgers University and a Master of Business Administration in marketing and international business from New York University.
