Data Dimensions Assists Clients With Compliance of 'Present on Admission' (POA) Indicator Reporting Requirements as Part of the April 1, 2008 Timeline

Data Dimensions announced today that they are prepared for the POA indicator reporting requirements by implementing data elements that expand patient discharge data to their workflows for submission of healthcare

JANESVILLE, Wis., April 1, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- Data Dimensions Corporation announced today their commitment for continuous improvement is evident by assisting clients with compliance of the "Present on Admission" (POA) indicator data elements, which they implemented as part of their workflows for submission of healthcare claims.

As part of compliance with Section 5001(c) of the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005, hospitals and other facilities involving inpatient admissions are required to identify inpatient diagnoses that are present on admission (POA). The POA indicator applies to both primary and secondary diagnoses reported on UB-04 and 837 Institutional claims. As part of a phased implementation, a timeline was established and as of April 1, 2008, any claims submitted for payment that do not contain proper reporting of the POA indicator are denied and returned.

Data Dimensions took a proactive stance and began notifying clients of the POA indicator reporting requirements timeline well in advance to help prepare them. Jon Boumstein, President, noted, "By analyzing and anticipating needs, we were able to provide our clients with the information they needed, when they needed it. Our approach and seamless implementation process with the POA indicator requirements is another example of the value that divides Data Dimensions from our competitors."
