DKWIO.org Receives Helen eWard; Dynamic Site Drives Fight Against Childhood Obesity by Providing Daily Content and Resources for Making Healthy Choices

DETROIT, Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Troy (Mich.) Chamber of Commerce's Helen eWards Committee recently announced its winners for 2008 Helen eWards for Web Excellence, sponsored by Miller Canfield. The Danialle Karmanos' Work It Out site -- dkwio.org -- was selected as the best site in the Social Impact category and was also a finalist in the Best of Show category.

"We received nearly 200 nominations this year in ten categories," said 2008 Helen Committee Chair Tracy-Ann Palmer of Palmer National. "We had many creative and high quality web sites to consider from companies across the state."

"DKWIO.org serves as an informative, interactive and entertaining communications vehicle to help kids -- and families -- make healthy choices," said DKWIO Founder and Executive Director Danialle Karmanos. "With daily content updates and dynamic features, DKWIO.org continues to evolve as the must-visit site on the web for ensuring health in mind, body and spirit."

The Helen eWards competition, now in its ninth year, takes nominations annually from July to September. Nominees must have a Michigan link to be eligible -- either designed by or for a Michigan-based company. Each winning site receives a Helen eWard, a stunning crystal award with the image of Helen of Troy etched inside.
