Dallas’ Park Cities Pet Sitter, Inc. will Participate in the NAPPS “Presents 4 Pets” Campaign in Honor of the Humane Society of the United States’ Animal Shelter Appreciation Week
Date:6/17/2013

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) June 17, 2013

Park Cities Pet Sitter, Inc. is joining forces with the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS) for the “Presents 4 Pets” campaign, a money and supply collection drive to benefit the shelter animal community.

This national program coincides with the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, observed November 3-9, 2013. As part of this annual program, Park Cities Pet Sitter and other NAPPS members across the country will be reaching out to their clients, and sponsoring local events to encourage people to donate money and products for this worthy cause. Items such as food, toys, treats, blankets, towels, rugs, beds, bleach, leashes, collars, cat traps, and gift cards will be solicited during this initiative.

“This is a great opportunity for all pet lovers to help the neediest animals in our community,” commented Joette White, President of Park Cities Pet Sitter. “We hope through our participation in Presents 4 Pets that we will generate awareness for our community shelters, as well as highlight the social responsibility we all have to successfully manage the overall population and placement of companion animals that need homes.”

Ms. White said she is especially excited that her company’s efforts will benefit two local organizations that are staunchly committed to making a difference in the Dallas community; the Humane Society of Dallas County and Big Fix for Big D.

The Humane Society of Dallas County operates the shelter known as Dog & Kitty City at 2719 Manor Way in Dallas. For 30 years, Dog & Kitty City has operated as a 501(c)3 no-kill shelter, with no tax support. They are a true, no-kill facility, taking in animals of all ages, with or without health issues, and providing them shelter, food, medical care, and love until they can find an adoptive home. Dog & Kitty City can have up to 30 dogs and 175 cats in its shelter and in foster care at any one time.

Big Fix for Big D is a multi-year effort of four community partners to spay or neuter tens of thousands of pets in Dallas to significantly diminish the numbers of unwanted pet litters. The ultimate goal for Big Fix for Big D is to reduce euthanasia rates at Dallas Animal Services and Adoption Center by 30% by 2015. Through the Big Fix for Big D initiative, the City of Dallas Animal Services and Adoption Center (DAS), Spay Neuter Network (formerly Kaufman County Animal Awareness Project, KCAAP), Metroplex Animal Coalition (MAC) and the SPCA of Texas will offer free spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations and registration for pets whose owners live in one of these zip codes: 75211, 75212, 75216, 75217, 75224, 75227, 75228 and 75241.
