DBT Expert Charles Swenson to Present at Upcoming Clearview Workshop
Date:6/28/2012

Venice Beach, CA (PRWEB) June 28, 2012

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) expert Charles Swenson, M.D., will teach participants how a dialectical worldview informs specific DBT treatment strategies during a workshop presented by Clearview Treatment Programs.

On Friday, July 27, 2012, Clearview Treatment Programs and Clearview Women’s Center, a premier treatment center for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) in Los Angeles, are presenting “Being Dialectical in DBT: Commitment, Targeting, and Validation Done Dialectically.”

The workshop is part of Clearview’s Clinical Workshop Series, and is co-sponsored with Behavioral Tech, LLC, which provides DBT trainings internationally.

This workshop will clarify what is meant by "dialectical" in DBT using lecture, case examples, and role-playing demonstrations. Participants will be taught how to utilize three standard DBT strategies dialectically: prioritizing treatment targets, getting commitment to the treatment, and validating the client.

“We are very excited to bring Dr. Charles Swenson to the West Coast, offering therapists a unique workshop on dialectics in DBT,” said Michael Roy, MSW, LCSW, founder and executive director of Clearview Treatment Programs and Clearview Women’s Center for Borderline Personality and Emotional Disorders. “Dr. Swenson is an internationally recognized DBT trainer and expert in DBT implementation.”

More about the ‘Being Dialectical in DBT’ Workshop

“Being Dialectical in DBT” will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Deacon Compean Hall in Venice Beach, Calif. Admission to the workshop is $150, which includes a networking lunch. Discounts are available
