Cybex Strengthens Its Partnership with the YMCA
Date:6/24/2013

Medway, MA (PRWEB) June 24, 2013

Since 1983, Cybex has partnered with more than 2,000 YMCAs nationwide, equipping them to fulfill their mission of offering inclusive fitness opportunities to the whole community in all its diversity. Recently, Cybex has completed installations in several YMCA locations, including Chicago and Champaign, Illinois; central Maryland; Wichita, Kansas; Boston and vicinity; Philadelphia; Miami; Pittsburgh; middle Tennessee: Atlanta; Louisville; Madison and Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Denver; and South County, Iowa.

While the installations feature a wide range of Cybex exercise machines—including Total Access equipment for the physically impaired, 770 and 625 Arc Trainers, the VR3, which fits users of all levels and helps optimize a facility’s floor-plan, and more—equipment is just one aspect of the longstanding partnership between Cybex and the YMCAs.

"Our support extends to programming, education, and more," says Al Rousseau, Vice President, North America - National Accounts, at Cybex. "In the past year alone, we supported more than 45 events, including CEO and COO conferences, capital campaigns, golf tournaments, the YMCA’s work in support of breast cancer research, the Joslin Diabetes Center, and more."

On the educational front, for example, the Cybex Research Institute offers a unique, multi-day comprehensive workshop that combines classroom instruction and practical hands-on training specifically for YMCA fitness professionals. Led by Dr. Paul Juris, Executive Director of the Cybex Research Institute, and his team, the YMCA Training Coaching program addresses such topics as anatomy, kinesiology, biomechanics, and motor learning, while providing participants with product training designed to apply classroom instruction on the wellness floor.

"The workshop provides the education and training for our staff to be experts for our communities and members," notes Bobbi Williams, Executive Director of the YMCA of the Seacoast in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

"Our mission has been, and will continue to be, to support the quality of service YMCAs offer their members and communities," says Rousseau. "As our largest customer, our goal is to offer quality products and programs that deliver quality results for the YMCAs and that bolster the integrity of both organizations."
