On February 7, 2013, the Muscular Development Store responds to a recent article published by STACK that discusses the benefits of specific workout supplements.
The article from STACK lists protein powder, glutamine, creatine and caffeine as some of the most effective supplements a person can use. However, the article adds, “one thing you must consider right off the bat is your diet. If your nutrition is poor, you will fail to achieve your fitness goals. Check that out before you consider any supplement.”
The article declares that protein is necessary for any athlete. While most protein should come from your diet, protein supplements can provide a quick source of protein, pre- and post-workout. According to the article, protein helps muscles recover after an intense workout.
STACK explains that glutamine is an amino acid, and plays a big part in muscle growth. Since your natural glutamine levels are depleted during a workout, it might be beneficial to use glutamine supplements to replenish.
Next is creatine, a very popular supplement that helps increase lean muscle mass. According to the article, “when using creatine, start with 20 grams per day, divided into four five-gram doses. This is the loading phase and should be carried out for five days. After that, take five grams per day before or after a workout.”
The last supplement listed in the article is caffeine. Caffeine will provide a quick burst of energy before working out, which can aid in keeping workouts at a high intensity level. However, according to the article, caffeine can dehydrate a person so be sure to drink plenty of water during use.
