Crazy Water Expands Distribution to Whole Foods Market(R)

Texas-Based Mineral Water Sold Throughout Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana

MINERAL WELLS, Texas, Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Crazy Water, the natural mineral water sourced and bottled by Famous Mineral Water Co. in Mineral Wells, Texas, announces its introduction into 13 Whole Foods Market locations across Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. This is the company's first step toward a national expansion of the only domestically bottled mineral water available in the United States.

Crazy Water, first discovered in Texas in 1881, is a naturally occurring mineral water sourced from the wells in Mineral Wells, Texas. The water is available in three mineral content options -- No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4. Crazy Water No. 2 has the lowest mineral count and is described as fine table water that is suggested as a daily drinking water. No. 3 is deep well water with a higher mineral content that is also great for daily drinking and can be used daily. No. 4 has the highest mineral content, and it's recommended that adults drink 8 to 16 ounces a day.

"For more than 120 years, Crazy Water has enjoyed a cult following from people seeking the health benefits found in Crazy Water, and now Whole Foods Market customers are able to easily purchase it," said Carol Elder, co-owner of Crazy Water. "Partnering with the world's leading natural and organic foods supermarket is an incredible opportunity for even more people to try our natural, healthy mineral water."

Crazy Water got its name in the late 1800s after an elderly woman suffering from dementia drank No. 4 and was cured of her illness. The well became known as the "Crazy Well," and eventually the name Crazy Water stuck. Enthusiasts continue to drink the water that has the same minerals it contained more than 100 years ago.

"We seek out the finest natural, highest-quality products, and we know this Texas-based natural mineral water is an exciting addition," said Scott Price, Whole Foods Market Grocery Coordinator. "Customers are asking for Crazy Water and often are waiting at the store the day the shipment is delivered."

When Crazy Water went up for sale in 1999, Carol and Scott Elder and Bill and Helen Arneson applied to purchase the company as a way to own an operational business that would provide a slower pace of life. The Crazy Water sellers offered the company for sale by application, looking for the perfect buyers who were willing to keep the integrity and Mineral Wells town history alive. The Elders and Arnesons quickly became prime candidates and, eventually, owners. Nine years later, they continue to focus on Crazy Water's heritage and history, while now making it available throughout the nation.

"Our followers have experienced lifestyle changes simply by drinking our mineral water on a daily basis," said Elder. "It amazes me the number of stories we hear from those drinking the water, saying that it has helped a variety of health issues -- everything from acid reflux and restless legs syndrome to indigestion."

Given consumers' increased focus on healthy, organic foods and lifestyles, the Elders are making it a priority for wider distribution of its products in order to make Crazy Water more available for those looking to add mineral water into their daily lives. Crazy Water is available in 13 Whole Foods Markets, online at, by visiting the Famous Water Co. Water Pavilion in Mineral Wells or in select health food stores throughout Texas.
