CHESAPEAKE, Va., April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- In conjunction with HBO, Cox Communications will allow all digital cable customers -- not only those that subscribe to HBO -- to have free access to its upcoming documentary series "The Alzheimer's Project." Beginning May 11, digital cable customers can access all four documentaries in the series via Cox's On DEMAND library, located on channel 1. Customers will have access to the programs through June 8th.
"Cox is happy to partner with HBO to present this important programming to all of our digital customers," said Gary McCollum, Senior Vice President and General Manager. "Our On DEMAND technology allows us to offer easy access to shows and programs that customers may otherwise miss, and in this case, for free."
Debuting on HBO in May and created by the award-winning team behind HBO's acclaimed "Addiction" project, this multi-platform series takes a close look at groundbreaking discoveries made by the country's leading scientists, as well as the effects of this debilitating and fatal disease both on those with Alzheimer's and on their families. The Alzheimer's Project features a four-part documentary series bringing many of the nation's leading Alzheimer's researchers and their cutting-edge science directly to the American people. It's a compelling story of scientific discovery, research advances and challenges and of the human faces behind the disease.
To access the programs, digital customers simply tune to channel 1 for the On DEMAND menu. The programs can be found in the Top Picks section of FreeZone. With On DEMAND, Cox Digital Cable customers have access to a library of more than 7000 hours of movies and shows, including high-definition content and exclusive programming, all via the digital receiver. The majority of On DEMAND programming is free and all available with the touch of a button. Customers can watch what they want, when they want by tuning to the On DEMAND menu on Channel 1.
The Alzheimer's Project is a presentation of HBO Documentary Films and the National Institute on Aging at the National Institutes of Health in association with the Alzheimer's Association(R), The Fidelity(R) Charitable Gift Fund and Geoffrey Beene Gives Back(R) Alzheimer's Initiative. The series producer is John Hoffman; the executive producers are Maria Shriver and Sheila Nevins.
